Yellowstone National Park in Winter
I saw a show about Yellowstone in winter. The show opened with lines like (I'm paraphrasing here) tourists are all gone... old man winter covers the park in a deep blanket of snow...animals in survival mode...peace and tranquility over the landscape... You get the idea. I thought to myself, "This is great. I'll have the whole park practically to myself." So off we went around New Years of 2001. Well, the first day into the Park we were two of about 1000 snow mobilers. No solitude this trip! I had a great time anyway.
West Yellowstone, MT
We stayed at the Stage Coach Inn in West Yellowstone. West Yellowstone is in Montana,
just over the state line, and very near the West Entrance to the Park. That's why this presentation shows up in both states, MT and WY.
There was actually a lot to do in West Yellowstone. I went to the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center and did some x-country skiing in
Gallatin National Forest.

Landscapes
I've tried to pick photos for this section that
project the wintery conditions in Yellowstone (overcast, cold, snow, etc.). That said,
there are only a few pictures of the hydrothermal features for which Yellowstone is so famous.
Geysers, hot springs, and such are included in other Yellowstone presentations in Wyoming.
Wildlife
The bears were all asleep.
