Tombstone, AZ

Tombstone, located in Cochise County, was founded in 1879 by prospector Ed Schieffelin. Tombstone became a boomtown in the mid-1880s as local mines produced millions of dollars in silver bullion. Tombstone is probably best known for the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral and its "Boot Hill" cemetery. Today most of the town's revenue comes from tourism as a historic western town. I visited Tombstone in 1999.
