Prehistoric Museum at Utah State University Eastern

The Prehistoric Museum at Utah State University Eastern is located in downtown Price, Utah. The Museum features geology, paleontology, and archaeology exhibits mostly from the local Castle Country region (Carbon and Emery Counties). The Hall of Dinosaurs has complete fossils of Allosaurus, Camptosaurus, Stegosarus, and many more. The Hall of Archaeology houses an excellent Ice Age exhibit, as well as exhibits of Native American culture, past and present. The museum contains a paleontology laboratory, and a Discovery Area with interactive exhibits for your junior paleontologist. Don't miss the Special Exhibits Gallery located on the second floor between the Hall of Dinosaurs and the Hall of Archaeology. Prehistoric Museum is open Sunday through Wednesday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Thursday through Saturday 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Admission is $7 for adults ages 13 to 64, $5 for seniors and military, and $3 for children 2 to 12. Kids under 2 get in free. I toured the Museum in July of 2026 and had a great time. I highly recommend you do the same.

Hall of Dinosaurs

The first part of the musem I visited was the Hall of Dinosaurs, which is to the right of the check-in desk. The Paleontology Lab is located in the Hall, and it has picture windows so you can watch people performing incredibly tedious tasks. The dinosaurs in the hall are not your daddy's dinosaurs. I'd never heard of most of them. Scroll down for photos of some of the dinosaurs and other displays and exhibits. You get a prize if you can correctly pronounce the names of all the dinosaurs.

Hall of Archaeology

An excellent Ice Age exhibit occupies most of the ground floor of the Archaeology Hall. The second floor mezzanine features displays of Native American culture, including baskets, pottery, and the world-famous Fremont Pilling Figurines (which unfortunately I failed to photograph).
