Jackson, Wyoming
The town of Jackson coalesced in the late 1800s and officially became know as Jackson
in 1894. Today the approximately 10,000 residents use Jackson and Jackson Hole interchangeably as the name of
the town, although Jackson Hole is really the valley in which the town in situated. I would have to say that
the town's economy is almost 100% tourism. It hosts visitors to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, and
has a ski resort (Snow King) with two others located nearby.
I would visit Jackson on my way to Grand Teton and Yellowstone. Usually I would just walk around town and gawk
at the other tourists, and occasionaly eat breakfast or lunch. I took lots of pictures of random
businesses located in the touristy part of town, centered around the town square. Some of these are presented
below in no particular order. The photos span a time period from 1991 to 2020.
West Deloney Avenue is pictured in the photo to the right, taken in Oct 2014. Skinny Skis Sporting Goods is shown in the center of the picture and Jackson Hole Hat Company is to the right. The hat company closed some time after this photo was taken.
