Dinosaur, CO

Welcome to the tiny town of Dinosaur, Colorado. It's located in the northwestern corner of Moffat County, CO, about 3 miles from the Utah border. Originally named Artesia, the town changed its name to Dinosaur in 1966 to capitalize on "dinomania". The town bills itself as the "Gateway to Dinosaur National Monument" as it's only 2 miles from the Canyon Visitor Center in the Colorado portion of Dinosaur National Monument. There are a few dinosaur replicas wandering around town, and several of the streets are named after the critters. Dinosaur also serves as a good base to stock up on supplies before heading to Dinosaur National Monument or points west.
