Bisti/De-Na-Zin Wilderness

The Bisti/De-Na-Zin Wilderness is one of the most enchanting and well-kept secrets in New Mexico. It's a fantasy world of bizarre rock formations made of sandstone, shale, mudstone, and coal. The weathering of the sandstone forms hoodoos - pinnacles, spires, and cap rocks. Petrified wood litters the landscape, and fossils are embedded in the sandstone.
